The  Messiah - Part 18

Son of the Highest

  • Proverbs 30:4 Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell?

Only one can ascend and descend into heaven or from heaven that can also gather the wind in his fists and place the bounds of the ocean and create the heavens and the earth. That is God or the Son of God. Both existed together at the creation and both still exist now.

The very Son of God is the one who came as a babe in the manger and as our Messiah to save us from our sins over 2000 years ago and is still alive at the right hand of God today.

Fulfillment in the New Testament

  • Luke 1: 31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
  • 32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
  • 33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

An angel appeared unto a young unmarried virgin named Mary who was of the lineage of King David through David's son Nathan. This young girl was chosen of God to bear the Christ child. His name was called Jesus. The name means Jehovah is salvation. In the Greek the name is Isous. In the Hebrew language it is Yeshua or Joshua. This Christ child was God in the flesh, God with us. God the Father remained in Heaven:

  • Matthew 3:17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in |whom I am well pleased.

This was the Father of Jesus Christ the Son of God. There is a God who became flesh and lived among men and that is Jesus. He existed with God the Father before his birth on the earth.

  • John 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

Jesus created the earth and existed eternally just as God the Father does. He willingly came down to the earth to be born as a baby. This had to happen for our sakes. He had to make a way for the lost creation to be reunited with God. Sin separates from God. Sin will be destroyed and done away with forever. If we remain in our sins and do not accept the sacrifice God made for our sins, we will die eternally forever.

  • Matthew 1: 21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
  • 22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
  • 23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Jesus, the Son of God came to save from sin. We have to be saved from sin in order to inherit eternal life. There was no other person in heaven or in earth that could do this for us except the very Son of God. It had to be someone who would become God in the flesh. It had to be someone who did not sin so that His sacrifice was pure and without spot or blemish. Jesus could not die for our sins if He had of sinned Himself. The sacrifice had to be pure in order to atone for all sins of mankind. Our sin kept Jesus on the cross until He died. Every sin that all flesh has ever committed kept Jesus on the cross. He could have called on angels to deliver him: It was His choice to stay and finish what He came to do. Usher in the only way for lost mankind to be saved.

Thank You, Jesus for staying on that cross for me. Jesus willingly gave His earthly life for our sins.

  • Matthew 26:52 Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.
  • 53 Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?
  • 54 But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?

He could have backed out at any time but then we could never have been saved. Israel must look for more than a deliverer from the enemies on the earth. They must look for a deliverer from sin. We must look for more than earthly possessions and riches, we must look for a savior from sin.

This life is temporary and passes quickly. Eternity is forever. We need to be saved and forgiven of sins. This is why Jesus came.

  • Daniel 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

Jesus has come to make an end of sins and fulfill the prophecy in Daniel. He came to make reconciliation for iniquity and bring in everlasting righteousness.

  • Isaiah 44:21 Remember these, O Jacob and Israel; for thou art my servant: I have formed thee; thou art my servant: O Israel, thou shalt not be forgotten of me.
  • 22 I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.
  • 23 Sing, O ye heavens; for the LORD hath done it: shout, ye lower parts of the earth: break forth into singing, ye mountains, O forest, and every tree therein: for the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and glorified himself in Israel.

Isaiah spoke of the day of redemption. The Messiah is more than an deliverer from enemies. The Messiah is a deliverer from sins. Faith in Him will cause God to blot out the sins and redeem all believers back to the place we lost at the fall of mankind in the garden of Eden.

  • Isaiah 58:1 Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.

We must look for a savior from sin first before we can look for a savior from earthly enemies and an eternal earthly kingdom.

  • Isaiah 59:12 For our transgressions are multiplied before thee, and our sins testify against us: for our transgressions are with us; and as for our iniquities, we know them;

All have sinned and are separated from God because of those sins. Jesus came to save us from our sins.

  • Matthew 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Before His death on the cross, Jesus held a feast with His disciples. As they drank the wine He was showing them that He blood would be shed for the remission of sins.

  • Mark 4:11 And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:
  • 12 That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.

When we refuse to see and understand that we have sinned. When we refuse to hear the word of God, we remain in sin and cannot be converted. We cannot have eternal life and be reconciled to God without repenting of sins.

  • Luke 1:76 And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways;
  • 77 To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins,
  • 78 Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us,
  • 79 To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.

To remain in sin is to abide in darkness. John the Baptist also preached remission of sins.

  • Luke 3:3 And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins;

Repentance and turning away from sin is taught both in the Old Testament and the New.

  • Luke 24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
  • 45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand
    the scriptures,
  • 46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ
    to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
  • 47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

The gospel of repentance and remission of sins started from Jerusalem and is to be preached to all nations. This is for everybody and there is not other way to be saved. I can't repeat this enough. There is no other way.

Words of Jesus:

  • John 8:24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

If we do not believe that Jesus is the Christ and receive Him, we shall die in our sins. This is a scary thing to think about but it is truth. Our sins will be blotted out when we come to Jesus for salvation.

  1. Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
  2. 39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

This is so great a gift that we must not take lightly or neglect to seek.

  • Acts 3:18 But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.
  • 19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
  • 20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:
  • 21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.
  • 22 For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.
  • 23 And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.
  • 24 Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days.

These promises are for all who believe not just those that lived in the days Jesus walked the earth.

  • Acts 5:30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.
  • 31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.
  • 32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

These things we hear are so awesome and holy. Gifts of God. Salvation, eternal life and God's indwelling presence by giving us the Holy Spirit to abide with us continually. First come remission of sins.

  • Acts 10:43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

Jesus, the Son of God came to save from sin first then He will come to set up His eternal, righteous Kingdom.

  • Galatians 1:3 Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ,
  • 4 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

This is all done through the grace, mercy and love of our God.

  • Hebrews 1:1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
  • 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
  • 3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

In the Old Testament God spoke to us by the prophets. The prophets foretold of the day when one would come to save us from sin. Jesus fulfilled that promise.

Jesus is the Son of God that came to us as a savior. We need to be saved from sin in order to inherit eternal life. It is the only way. It is greater than any earthly religion. It is the way the truth and the life.

You can receive Jesus this very day. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved.
